Lessons of History

The message is that we must remember the past, because as we all know, but always forget, what has happened before can happen again.

In the first painting, Learning to Listen, the Observer tries to hear the words of the dead, despite the distracting noises of the present. In Learning to See, she contemplates the destiny of lovers: The Fates are casting their nets. In Learning to Speak, the Observer slowly awakens from her other worldly preoccupations to the events around her, but perhaps not in time to avert disaster in the familiar streets.
